Closer
Joy Division’s second and final studio album Closer was release 40 years ago on 18th July 1980 two months after singer Ian Curtis death on 18th May. Closer, the group's second and final album arrived the year after their debut in July 1980 on Factory Records, following Ian Curtis' death two months earlier. Its dark and melancholy tones earned rave reviews for songs like Isolation and Heart and Soul. Closer, like 'Unknown Pleasures' was produced by Martin Hannett. Being released on the same day are the band’s three singles Transmission, Atmosphere and Love Will Tear Us Apart on 12” single in the weeks prior to the release of the album.
