Royal Edinburgh Military Tatto Melbourne 2016 - Fanfare For The Future
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo marched into Melbourne's Etihad Stadium for the first time ever in February 2016. Over 1200 military and civilian performers from around the globe made their way to Melbourne for a breathtaking performance that defines spectacular. Acts from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia performed in front of an extraordinary, life-size replica of the Edinburgh Castle fa ade. At the heart of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo was the stirring sight and sound of the magnificent Massed Pipes and Drums of Scotland's famous regiments. This production, themed 'Fanfare for the Future', has been staged against the story of a last rifle shot being fired on the Gallipoli Peninsula, as Allied and ANZAC forces were withdrawn from Anzac Cove and Suvla Bay. Throughout the show, the storyline is rich in our collective history, a sense of common values and a shared purpose to contribute to a better world. The grand finale drew together the entire cast of more than 1200 for that international song of love and friendship, Auld Lang Syne. The Lone Piper, standing high on the castle ramparts, brought the event to a poignant conclusion, leaving memories that will be treasured forever. The Melbourne 2016 event is only the fourth time that the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has left Edinburgh.
