Washington has been involved in the Jamaican music industry since the early 70s. Stevie Wonder jammed with Washington and his band and in 1982 and encouraged the singer to emigrate to the USA. Washington subsequently settled in Detroit. He recorded and toured internationally with The Heptones, Sattalites and Shinehead.
