Caoimhn Raghallaigh|Thomas Bartlett
Two highly respected musicians in their own right who already share a common history as members of the acclaimed Irish-American group The Gloaming. Here they explore the alluring interplay of hardanger fiddle and piano. With this new collaboration recorded at Estudio Vincent Fernandez in Mexico City, Reservoir Studios in New York and Real World Studios in Box, Bartlett and Raghallaigh have produced an album of uncommon beauty, that clearly emphasises the complimentary nature of their playing and more than hints at the distinct contribution they make to their other groups output. This is serious, yet highly accessible music that sits comfortably beside works of contemporary jazz and classical music and more ethereal or experimental rock and pop. The album sits squarely alongside the likes of Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnulds, Agnes Obel, Sigur Ros, Gavin Bryars, Dustin OHalloran, Jan Garbarek, Peter Broderick. Bartlett (aka Doveman) is a highly-respected New York based composer/producer/collaborator. He has worked with Sufjan Stevens, Glen Hansard, The National, Sam Amidon, Adrian Crowley, Nico Muhly, The Gloaming, Martha Wainwright, and many more. Raghallaigh from Dublin has worked with Laurie Anderson, Amiina, Dan Truman and Vincent Moon and has own band This Is How They Fly.
