The Vienna Recital

he works on Yuja Wang's new release, deriving from her highly acclaimed 2022 Vienna recital, mix and match selections from different eras in a seemingly freewheeling yet ultimately cohesive manner, where one work's thematic makeup and expressive possibilities evoke or suggest what is to follow. It's not unlike a gallery exhibition encompassing multiple artists, where the curator gives careful consideration to the venue's dimensions and the size of each painting. As such, a palpable organic flow and sense of cumulative momentum govern the peaks and valleys of Yuja Wang's provocative running order. 'I believe that every program should have its own life and reflect my current feelings' says the pianist.
