On its third studio album, the trio Wood & Steel, with Marc Muellbauer on double bass, Roland Neffe on marimba and vibraphone, and Christian K?gel on resonator guitar, also has a highly unusual lineup and does not stick to a fixed distribution of roles. Who leads, who supports - everything is open, everything goes.'Wasp At The Window' is at its heart a singer/songwriter record - albeit avant-garde - with plenty of cinematic expansiveness, one foot in Afrobeat, one deep in Americana. It doesn't fit into a genre pigeonhole - and what luck that it doesn't!
